42% jobseekers visit company website before responding to job opportunity  TMI Group survey
New Delhi, 18 July 2014: When it comes to career, engineering graduates in Hyderabad are taking informed decisions like never before. According to a survey conducted by the TMI Group, a leading HR and recruitment services firm, 42% of the jobseekers surveyed consider company website as the top source of information to learn about the job and the potential employer. This comes as a revelation to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises wondering why they are not able to attract top talent. The survey also provides insights into other job search habits of job seekers.
34.4% of the jobseekers said that they would research about the company at various sites on the Internet before deciding whether or not to pursue a job opportunity. Asking acquaintances, going through the social media pages of the company and reading from sources like magazines, are the other popular options to know more about the potential employer.

For 87.6% of the respondents, comprehensive information about the specific job role is one of the essential parameters. 86.7% jobseekers said that they consider information about the company among the decisive factors. Other information jobseekers say they search for include stories by current and ex-employees and details of work environment/culture.

The survey also reveals the top reasons to discontinue the pursuit of a job opportunity. 43% jobseekers would give up a job opportunity if they find information about it missing with the recruiter. 28% said that they would not follow through a job opportunity with company that has no website. Lack of social media presence and any internet presence are some more reasons.
Commenting on the results, Mr. T. Muralidharan, Chairman, TMI Group said “these findings come as eye opener for SMEs. These revelations direct the SMEs towards the need of employer branding and internet presence in attracting right talent.”
Sharing her perspective on the findings, Ms. Srividya Viswanathan, Executive Vice President, JobsDialog, a SME targeted recruitment solution from the TMI Group, said, “nine out of ten websites of SMEs are customer centric. There is hardly any information in them, aimed at educating and attracting jobseekers. It is high time SMEs understood that employer branding is as important as product branding.
The survey also throws light on other job search practices of the engineering graduates. Social media emerged as their favourite medium for job search, at 29.4%. For 26.9% jobseekers, job portals are still the favourite medium. 17.6% said they rely on company websites. Recruitment agencies and classifieds are next in the list respectively.

PLAC Test to Determine Cardiovascular Diseases

PLAC Test to Determine Cardiovascular Diseases
Mumbai July 9, 2014: Metropolis Healthcare Ltd, India’s leading multinational chain of diagnostic centers has become one of the few laboratories in Asia to offer PLAC Test. It is a risk stratification test which identifies the enzyme in the blood vessels. Plac test is a simple blood test that measures the enzyme activity of Lp-PLA2 level in the body. It is a cardiovascular-specific inflammatory marker implicated in the formation of rupture-prone plaque.
Lp-PLA2 (Lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2) is a blood vessel enzyme, found to be the second most predictive of heart attack risk, also warns of vulnerable plaque that could erupt like a volcano. The higher the level of Lp-PLA2, the higher the risk of CV events i.e., Heart attack and stroke - even with normal LDL cholesterol. Lp-PLA2 as a biomarker for cardiovascular risk stratification has been endorsed by various guidelines published by the American College of Cardiology Foundation/America Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, the American Association of clinical endocrinologists in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

“PLAC Test is a simple blood test that assesses your cardiac health. Cholesterol testing alone is not enough; a traditional Cholesterol test can miss hidden risks for heart attack. More than 50% of heart attacks occur in patients with normal cholesterol; rather most cardiovascular (CV) events i.e., Heart attack and stroke are caused due to rupture of plaque that is formed by cholesterol deposition in the blood vessels” Said Dr. Rajesh Bendre, head of department – Immunochemistry & special Immunochemistry, Metropolis Healthcare Ltd.
In heart diseases, it's known that an unhealthy lifestyle that includes fatty foods, excess alcohol and smoking dramatically increases the risk of a stroke. This drives up cholesterol levels and increases blood pressure. Blood vessels become clogged with fatty deposits that can dislodge and make their way to the brain, depriving it of vital oxygen. However, doctors acknowledge that a significant number of people fall victim to strokes despite having no obvious risk factors.
“Eventually the unstable plaque can rupture, turn into potential lethal clots and debris loose in bloodstream—causing a stroke or a heart attack. PLAC test is second generation enzyme linked immunoassay test, helping doctors with prediction of future strokes and heart attack” says Dr Arvind Joshi, consultant cardiologist.
